Red Sea International Film Festival Celebrates Women in CinemaThe Red Sea International Film Festival being organized from 5th to 14th December 2024, hosted its 7th Women in Cinema Gala, highlighting the contributions of women shaping the global film industry. Held at the Jeddah Yacht Club, the event celebrated trailblazing female filmmakers and iconic figures across Arab, African, and Asian cinema. The gala was hosted by acclaimed actor and producer Hend Sabri.

The evening honored seven women directors in competition, including Denise Fernandes (Hanami), Kurdwin Ayub (Moon), and Reema Katgi (Superboys of Malageon). Chairwoman Jomana Al-Rashid emphasized the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to championing women’s voices in film.

Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh and actor-producer Eva Longoria delivered inspiring speeches, applauding the Foundation’s efforts in advancing women’s careers in cinema. Both highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for women to share diverse, impactful stories globally.

The star-studded event welcomed notable guests such as Emily Blunt, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mona Zaki, and Hoyeon Jung, underlining the festival’s role as a platform to celebrate and amplify the contributions of women in the film industry.
