India Communication Forum

If you have been following Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media, you would have noticed that the Indian leader almost every morning shares a Sanskrit Subhashitam.

While PM Modi has been occasionally sharing messages in Sanskrit, India’s ancient language, ever since becoming the Prime Minister in 2014, in recent months, he has been consistently posting Sanskrit Subhashitas on his X account daily.

Subhashitas are wise sayings in Sanskrit and the PM has begun to share these daily as part of his efforts to create a bridge between India’s ancient cultural heritage and modern national goals.

The PM started this series to inspire the country’s citizens by talking about nation-building, self-reliance, and environmental care, and linking the messages with timeless Vedic wisdom.

For example, on April 22, the Prime Minister posted a Sanskrit Subhashitam highlighting the enduring spirit of Mother Earth:

“यस्यां वृक्षा वानस्पत्या ध्रुवास्तिष्ठन्ति विश्वहा।

पृथिवीं धेनुं प्रदुहां न उदिच्छन्तु नमोऽस्तु पृथिव्यै॥”

The Subhashitam conveys, “On the land where trees and plants always stand firm and steady, May that earth provide us with all comforts and resources. We bow to mother Earth.”

The PM sought to convey that Earth is our mother, the welfare of humanity lies in its preservation, and protecting it is not only our collective duty but also our sacred pledge to future generations.

“पृथ्वी हमारी माता है और इसके संरक्षण में मानवता का कल्याण निहित है। इसकी रक्षा करना हम सबका केवल दायित्व नहीं, बल्कि आने वाली पीढ़ियों के प्रति हमारा पवित्र संकल्प भी है।

It may be noted that PM Modi considers the Sanskrit language as the ‘soul of India’ and describes it as an eternal source of knowledge that defines the country’s national identity.

In his messages shared over the years, the PM has stressed how ancient texts provide solutions to modern challenges like climate change, global warming, and science and technology.

He believes these Subhashitas will inspire the youth in the nation’s journey to become a developed India by 2047.

What stands out is that the PM has been sharing Sanskrit Subhashitas every morning at least since late 2025 and the consistent sharing of these messages exemplifies the importance of consistency in communication.

Whether practiced by a leader, a brand or an organisation, consistency in communication serves as a ‘strategic cornerstone’ that transforms individual messages into a credible and trustworthy narrative.

And narrative is what Public Relations seeks to build.

Messaging consistency helps foster trust and credibility, brings in predictability and brand awareness, and helps in message retention.

One definition says: “Consistency is not just about repeating the same words; it is about ensuring that every interaction reinforces the same core narrative.”

PM Modi seems to have mastered this art.
