Dan Shapero replaces Ryan Roslansky as LinkedIn CEO

Dan Shapero has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of LinkedIn. Shapero replaces Ryan Roslansky who had been leading the company since 2020.

The announcement has come amid the professional networking platform’s efforts to navigate the challenges posed by and opportunities provided by artificial intelligence. LinkedIn is also trying to integrate itself deeper into the Microsoft ecosystem.

Shapero joined LinkedIn in 2008. The platform, now owned by Microsoft, was in its early stages of growth when Shapero was onboarded as an early employee.

Writing on LinkedIn to share his views on the development, Shapero said, “As I step into this role, similar to how I have approached new responsibilities in the past, I’ll start by learning and listening… connecting with our team, members, creators, and customers, each of whom make LinkedIn the platform that helps create economic opportunity.”

Reflecting on his journey at LinkedIn, he further wrote, “I joined LinkedIn in May 2008 as employee #300ish, and it’s easy to say that my time at the company has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. It’s shaped me as a person for the better because of our people, our culture, our mission and vision, and the way we come together to take on meaningful challenges and create real impact. All of it.

“The power of economic opportunity and the promise of LinkedIn has never been more important than it is today as the world is transformed by AI and professionals everywhere must transition along with it,” he added, sharing a message for the job-seekers in a changing world.

Shapero also used the opportunity to express his gratitude to Mike Gamson for hiring him, to Ryan Roslansky for his leadership, and fellow LinkedIn employees for the opportunity to learn with and from them.

Prior to joining LinkedIn, Shapero had worked with Bain & Company, Paramark and Zembu.
