India Today Group has appointed Nilanjan Das as its Chief AI Officer (CAIO), recognising his pioneering contributions to the organisation’s AI-driven transformation.
Das brings extensive media experience and a proven history of leading AI innovation within the group. He has played a key role in integrating artificial intelligence into ITG’s editorial and creative processes—ranging from developing AI news anchors and AI-generated pop stars to producing AI-assisted TV films and magazine covers.
In his new role, Das will lead the newly formed India Today AI Lab, tasked with building AI-first capabilities to reshape how the company produces, distributes, and monetises content. His appointment underscores the group’s commitment to staying at the forefront of media innovation.
He will report directly to Kalli Purie, Vice Chairperson and Executive Editor-in-Chief, and will collaborate with editorial, tech, and business units to drive AI integration across the organisation.
